What this website collects
This website sets no cookies and does not store anything on your device. It embeds no third-party content: the typefaces are served from this same domain rather than from a font provider, so reading these pages does not disclose your visit to any advertiser or social network.
We do measure aggregate traffic — how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they are, and which browser they use — using Cloudflare Web Analytics. This is a privacy-focused, cookieless measurement tool: it uses no cookies and no device fingerprinting, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. The measurement script and its report are served from this domain, not from a separate tracking domain. The figures are only ever seen in aggregate; no individual visitor is identified.
Like any website, it is delivered by a hosting provider (Cloudflare) whose servers process technical connection data — including your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and your browser’s user-agent string — in order to deliver the page, produce the aggregate figures above, and protect the service against attack and abuse. Your IP address is used to derive an approximate country and is not stored alongside the analytics; it is not used to identify or profile you.
Submitting a case study
The submission form is not part of this website. It is a separate survey hosted on the systems of the University of Zurich, and clicking any “Submit your case” link takes you there.
What that form collects, how long it is kept, who has access to it, and what it may be used for are set out in full in the study information and informed consent statement presented at the start of the form, before you enter anything. That text — not this page — governs the research data. The project has been reviewed by the responsible ethics committee of the University of Zurich.
Links to other sites
This site links to pages operated by others, including the survey platform of the University of Zurich and the personal website of the principal investigator. Once you follow such a link, the privacy policy of that site applies; we have no control over how those sites handle your data.
Writing to us
If you contact us by email, your message and address are processed for the purpose of answering you, and kept as long as needed for that purpose and any related record-keeping obligations. Email is not an encrypted channel end to end; please do not send confidential or sensitive information — and in particular no patient information — by email.
Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the applicable law, you may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to particular processing. To exercise any of these rights, write to the address above. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Applicable law
Processing is carried out under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to visitors in the European Economic Area, the processing described above rests on our legitimate interest in operating and securing this website and understanding its audience in aggregate, and — for the research project itself — on the consent you give within the submission form.
